Dr. Nawaf Salameh, Founding Chairman of the Alexandrion Group stated: “Our global tour continues here in Sofia, Bulgaria, with our close neighbours and partners. Bulgaria and Romania both became members of the EU on the 1st January 2007, we share borders and now we share one of our signature products, which we are sure, will flourish in this beautiful country. To make this happen, I am delighted and honoured that Carpathian Single Malt and our teams from Romania and Bulgaria were warmly welcomed at the Embassy of Romania in the Republic of Bulgaria, by the Ambassador of Romania in the Republic of Bulgaria, Her Excellency, Mrs. Brânduşa Predescu . We cherish the support that both the Embassy of Romania in the Republic of Bulgaria and Alexandrion Wines & Spirits Bulgaria provide, because it means that we can build on what we have achieved in the last year. This includes coveting 13 expressions, with many more in development and planning, the opening of our second distillery and many other achievements.”
The Ambassador of Romania in the Republic of Bulgaria, Her Excellency, Mrs. Brânduşa Predescu, highlighted: “Romania has a rich and diverse cultural heritage, renowned for its historical landmarks, breathtaking landscapes, and warm hospitality. Today, we add another dimension to our country’s offerings, namely the Carpathian Single Malt – a truly exceptional whisky, drawing inspiration from the age-old Scottish traditions, infused with our own unique Romanian character and produced entirely with pure Romanian ingredients. I encourage you all to experience the exquisite flavours and aromas of this remarkable whisky, to savour its complexity, and to share the pride we feel as Romania’s whisky industry enters the Bulgarian market through Alexandrion Group”
Mr. Boris Gurov, Partner of Alexandrion Wines & Spirits Bulgaria, concluded: “Today we celebrate a brand that stands for uncompromising quality, born to be an ambassador of connectivity and cross border cooperation. Together with our partners we share the common values of openness and transparency, integrity and mutual respect. This is what brough us together and thus will lead to the success of Alexandrion Wines & Spirits Bulgaria as a vital part of the global expansion of the Alexandrion Group around the world. We hope that Bulgaria will be a good example of our mutual interest in trying to do things better. I would like to make a toast for success, unity and a brighter tomorrow for all of us. The Event
Within the spectacular surroundings of the Embassy of Romania in the Republic of Bulgaria, an exclusive guest list of diplomats, suppliers, partners, media and professionals all gathered to network, celebrate and sample Carpathian Single Malt Whisky.
The evening was hosted by Colin C. Lovering – Global Brand Ambassador Carpathian Single Malt Whisky, who ushered on stage Allan Anderson, Master Distiller Carpathian Single Malt & Whisky Director Alexandrion Group, for a Q & A session about all the current expressions of Carpathian Single Malt Whisky – all ‘unveiled’ to the illustrious guest list.
The Carpathian Single Malt bar installed at the Embassy thronged with guests, who eagerly sampled the drinks, accompanied by a series of speeches and followed by a convivial atmosphere supported by live music.
Also available for invited guests, were a number of other products produced by the Alexandrion Group, these included the wines of the ‘Domeniile Alexandrion Rhein 1892’ and the regal sparkling wine, Rhein Extra, produced at the Rhein & CIE Azuga Cellars 1892.
Produced entirely from Romanian ingredients and finished in wine casks from all over the world
The Carpathian Single Malt Whisky range includes 13 expressions: Fetească Neagră, Pinot Noir, Madeira, Chianti, Oloroso, Pedro Ximenez, Tawny Port, Burgundy, Cognac, Amarone, Ruby Port, Vradiano and Commandaria, the latter being created exclusively for the Cyprus and Greece markets.
The attributes of the 13 expressions – appearance, smell, taste, finishing notes – are detailed on the website www.carpathian-singlemalt.com.
Carpathian Single Malt is made using 100% malted barley produced in Romania. This single malt is distilled, matured and bottled at the Alexandrion Saber 1789 Distilleries, located in Bucov, Prahova county, at the heart of the Carpathian Mountains. The first ever Romanian single malt whisky is made with pure Sub-Carpathian water, renowned for its quality, is natural in colour with nothing added or removed, non-chill filtered to retain all the natural colour and flavour and bottled at 46 % alcohol.
Carpathian Single Malt also has expressions matured in Romanian wine casks, another world premiere in terms of single malt production. Alexandrion Group becomes, thus, one of the few companies in the world that use casks from their own wine production facilities to mature single malt whisky.
The visual identity of Carpathian Single Malt was created by the agency Appartement 103, member of the Marie Claire Group.
The Master Distiller of the Carpathian Single Malt is Allan Anderson, with both Scottish and Irish heritage, who has more than 30 years of experience in producing both Scotch whisky (Loch Lomond, Whyte & Mackay, Aberargie) and Irish whiskey (The Great Northern Distillery). He also designed the distillery of Slane Castle Ireland.
Carpathian Single Malt is distributed in Bulgaria by Alexandrion Wines & Spirits Bulgaria and is available for consumers and shoppers in the 0.7 l version via premium specialized shops and retail venues.
