The Alexandrion Group is providing 50,000 USD in support to the victims of the massive earthquakes that struck Türkiye and Syria in February. The Group has donated money, and goods such as large tents and blankets, to aid victims who are now homeless and destitute.
The earthquakes left in their wake death and destruction so horrendous that it is difficult to fully grasp this tragedy.
“I was shocked by the scale of this catastrophe, which is also affecting my native country—already so devastated by so many years of war—and by the suffering of both the Syrian and Turkish peoples, who lost their lives, members of their families, their friends, and their homes,” said Dr. Nawaf Salameh, Founding Chairman of the Alexandrion Group.
Over the years, in the face of such tragedies, the Alexandrion Group through the Alexandrion Foundation and other Group companies, such as the Nawaf Salameh Family Office, has taken immediate action to support the victims. In making our own contributions to the earthquake relief effort, we have been blessed by the efforts of our partners and friends. And amid such devastation, we can glimpse through the misery, the deepest faith, and commitment to humanity, which though widespread in the region is astonishing, nonetheless. The valor of the first responders, coming from all over the world to be physically present at the epicenter, is exceeded only by that of the local peoples, who continue to aid the afflicted, physically, and spiritually, under such dire circumstances.
In Syria, we have coordinated and continue to consult with senior Romanian Government health and safety officials and diplomats, who have worked diligently to get aid to where it is needed.
Regarding Türkiye, Dr. Salameh noted that “we are engaging with local organizations and friends who know and are indeed part of the afflicted communities. These include the Turkish Maarif Foundation through its Romanian branch, and the Mersin Tomris Nadir Kilisesi Vakfi. We also wish to thank the Seyyit Haşim Haşimi Ehl-İ Beyt network for particular insights, as to the situation on the ground in the affected areas. We pray that God provides comfort and strength to the victims and indeed to everyone in Syria and Türkiye.”
