Carpathian Single Malt Whisky continued its journey around Romania with a new destination -the Banat region – an opportunity to celebrate and highlight the most important accomplishment the brand has had throughout the first year.
Alexandrion Group, the producer of Carpathian Single Malt Whisky, organized an event in Timisoara, which brought together whisky enthusiasts, members of The Whisky Club and Single Malt Society, local authorities, business partners and professionals from various fields of activity. The guests had the opportunity to taste the first single malt whisky produced in Romania, talk to Master Distiller Allan Anderson and ask questions about the production process and the attributes that differentiate the expressions. They also learnt from the Alexandrion Group team, what were the key moments for the brand this year and what are the national and international objectives for the next period.
Dr. Nawaf Salameh, Founding Chairman of the Alexandrion Group, said: “Banat is a region with many whisky enthusiasts, who believed in the potential of this project and supported us from the beginning, but, at the same time, there are also many people here who are open to trying an innovative product, which has received a lot of acknowledgement, already. It is a region where we have a strong presence that we continue to develop and I was happy that we could take to the European capital of culture, Timisoara, a product that has become a cultural landmark for Romania, only a year after its unveiling.
I would like to thank the general manager of our regional company, Alexandrion Wines & Spirits Banat, Ayoub Fouzi, for his efforts and the fact that he made it a priority to communicate very well and on all the channels the elements of uniqueness and the added value that this whisky has brought to our country and to the category it belongs to. I would also like to thank all our partners who wanted to have the Carpathian Single Malt range in their venues, our supporters from the Banat region and the guests who participated in the event and gave us valuable feedback for the next stages of development”
The event took place in a setting that reflected, through decor, the visual identity, origins and sources of inspiration for Carpathian Single Malt Whisky: the nature and the Carpathian Mountains.
It was also a good opportunity to celebrate one year since the first single malt whisky produced in Romania was unveiled in a limited, exclusive edition to an international audience.
“A few days ago, on World Whisky Day, I thought about this extraordinary year that we have had, during which we had a lot of accomplishments. On May 25, 2022, when we organized the first event in Washington, Carpathian Single Malt Whisky had 3 expressions, and today, the range includes 13 expressions finished in wine barrels from all over the world: Romania, France, Italy, Spain, Greece, Cyprus and many other expressions will follow. At the beginning of this year we inaugurated a new high-performance distillery which significantly increased the production capacity for the first single malt whisky produced in Romania. This distillery is part of the Alexandrion Saber 1789 Distilleries, which are located in the Dealu Mare region, at the heart of the Carpathian Mountains.
Carpathian Single Malt organized tasting events and participated in international fairs and exhibitions in Washington D.C., London, Nicosia, Athens and Oslo. Moreover, it has already won important medals in international competitions, which we will announce soon. We have national distribution, and the international distribution network is gradually expanding. And, one of the most important things is the fact that I met many people who tasted it and confirmed to us, each time, that we have a product with a taste that both connoisseurs and those who don’t drink whisky frequently, love. Carpathian Single Malt managed to change perceptions, mentalities and attract new enthusiasts in the single malt category” added Dr. Nawaf Salameh.

Produced entirely from Romanian ingredients
Carpathian Single Malt is made using 100% malted barley produced in Romania. This single malt is distilled, matured and bottled at the Alexandrion Saber 1789 Distilleries, located in Bucov, Prahova county, near the Carpathian Mountains. The first ever Romanian single malt whisky is made with pure Sub-Carpathian water, renowned for its quality, is natural in colour with nothing added or removed, non-chill filtered to retain all the natural colour and flavour and bottled at 46 % alcohol.
Carpathian Single Malt also has expressions matured in Romanian wine casks, another world premiere in terms of single malt production. Alexandrion Group becomes, thus, one of the few companies in the world that use casks from their own wine production facilities to mature single malt whisky.
The visual identity of Carpathian Single Malt was created by the agency Appartement 103, member of the Marie Claire Group.
The Master Distiller of the Carpathian Single Malt is Allan Anderson, with both Scottish and Irish heritage, who has more than 30 years of experience in producing both Scotch whisky (Loch Lomond, Whyte & Mackay, Aberargie) and Irish whiskey (The Great Northern Distillery). He also designed the distillery of Slane Castle Ireland.
